Office Inspiration

I can't speak for all women, but I think eventually most of us reach the point when we're just ready to claim our independence. This can mean a lot of things, but for me it's having my own space. I am nowhere near the idea of having my dream home at age 23 ... but I am getting excited to turn the little space that I do have to myself, into a home. My sister and I have been playing around with some ideas on how to decorate my studio apartment in Cali. While going through all of these decor ideas, I stumbled across some office ones that I loved. Somehow, I always end up looking up dream offices and desk spaces etc. I think it's important for everyone to have that space at home, whether they usually work from home or not. My favorite site for office ideas is See Jane Work. She just has a way of keeping a feminine sophistication in the work area that I really really love!

I would like to get a nice desk area going in my apartment before law school. Believe it or not, I've actually never been the most organized person when it comes to academics and just work in general. I'm a hard worker, but I also have a bad habit of cramming and I forget things- important things. To be honest, the desk in my old house in Louisiana was actually used as my TV stand during undergrad. No work was ever done there. These are some habits that I'm really trying to shake and I'm hoping that organizing my life from the outside, will help organize my mind a little bit. I've always been one of those people that kind of floated through school and did well .. but I realize that it may not work for me in law school. I really need to get focused.

  1. I'm the same - I love the look of pretty office spaces but when it comes to my own, it tends to be cluttered and I'm forever losing my pens. Its fun to decorate your desk space when you first move somewhere new, but don't beat yourself up too much if your desk doesn't stay looking like something out of a home decor magazine :)

    1. You're actually right, which is why I think I'm going to aim for more of an 'organized clutter' ... I know my personal style will just never be like something out of a magazine. Actually making sure that my work desk STAYS a work desk, is a step in the right direction for me lol .. Thanks for the comment and advice :)

  7. Hi Jennifer! This totally resonated with me... and I've got 10 years on you. Hopefully you'll find your organizational groove long before I did! I'm still trying to perfect my office organization system. :) Treating yourself to something pretty for your desk is always a good incentive. Can't wait to read more of your blog!

  9. I LOVE the See Jane Work collection and I've purchased quite a few items. I've set space aside for work in my room but I would like to have an entire room reserved for an office. For now, in my tiny 1100 sq ft apartment, the little space will have to suffice.

    1. Same here. I only have a studio, so a separate office will obviously have to wait .. but as long as you set apart a little bit of space to dedicate for work, I still feel like it makes a big difference !
