Top: Forever 21, Skirt: H&M, Bracelet: Urban Planet, Boots: Material Girl
So even though it's technically fall, Southern California hasn't really gotten the memo. It's still pretty warm out here and I imagine it will be like this for a while. I'm in no position to complain about the weather though because I hate the cold, so I really don't mind this. In either case, I can still try and incorporate a little bit of the season into my outfits. Since I started law school, I've been trying to add a little bit more sophistication to my outfits. It's not really necessary to dress well for class everyday (it's still very much like undergrad and you can come to class in sweats without being judged) but somedays I do like to dress up. Mainly, I just try to avoid clothing with a whole lot of graphics, tears and anything that seems more adolescent honestly. I already look pretty young, so there's no point in adding to that with my attire.
My favorite part of this outfit is definitely my black booties from Material Girl. They're a little bit edgy with the snakeskin exterior but the gold trim adds a bit of feminine i-can-still-wear-these-to-work touch. I really really love them. I had to get them as soon as I saw em on the shelf. I was a little nervous about how much I would get to wear them since the weather hasn't really cooled off yet, but I do like how they look with skirts. Let me know if you have any favorite fall accessories/trends.
love the boots!

DeleteLOVE, LOVE, LOVE! The colors are perfect and I love those booties.
ReplyDeleteWhen I started grad school, I promised myself that I'd make an effort to dress more adult-like and sophisticated, and since I had the opportunity to teach, I felt it was necessary to at least try to make myself look different from the college students that I taught. How embarrassing would it be for someone to mistake me as a student. LOL!
I think it's also important to dress nicely because you never know who'll be visiting the campus. I remember my mentor, a dean of another department, conveying this to me. So, I think it's awesome that you're making that effort.
Btw, I LOVE the backdrop (steps). So complimenting to your outfit. (:
Thanks so much ! Yes, it's hard looking so young so I have to make up for it the best way that I can. You're also totally right about presenting yourself well. Networking is so important these days that you always want to look presentable because you really never know who you might come across in your day to day.
DeleteHow gorgeous do you look!? The color of your top is absolutely perfect for Fall xo
