Barrister's Ball: Law School Prom

So this week they announced that my law school's Barrister's Ball is coming up and the theme is The Great Gatsby. If you don't know what the event is, it's basically just law school prom. It's a night out and everyone dresses up all fancy and it's just a pretty big annual affair. I'm actually not quite sure why ours is happening so soon as it's usually at the end of the academic year. In either case, I'm pretty excited about it. It's being held on a yacht on the Pacific, so what's not to love?

In regards to the theme, I put together some items I found online that I felt would comply. I actually haven't even read the book or watched the movie, but I always hear great things about it. Not to mention, the costumes are pretty spectacular. If you're not into flapper dresses and pinstripes, then it may not be for you. The dresses from The Great Gatsby are all about the embellishments and accessories pretty much just complete the look. I have a few weeks before that night so I'm hoping to be able to go out and put together an outfit like the one above. It will be a challenge, but we'll see how it goes.

  2. Such great picks! I guess thats the perk of being in California -- you can host a party on a yacht!

My school didn't do a theme :( And it was 3Ls only. I would've loved to go everyyear -- I had such a blast.

I hope you have a great time!

    1. Lol California does have its perks ... and my law school is slightly smaller, that's probably the only reason us 1Ls are allowed to go. Thank you !

  3. When I first saw the pic, I immediately thought of The Great Gatsby! I LOVED that movie and thought the wardrobe was past amazing.

Both dresses are gorgeous, but since gray is my favorite color, of course that one is my favorite of the two. You'd look awesome in both!

  10. I think you've got tons to brag concerning! and that i would not worry about being "overly boastful" as a result of you are tooting your own horn! i prefer to listen to the great stuff that folks do. It's far better than hearing the long list of crap and ailments they're experiencing over ... and over ... and once again. Hearing dangerous stuff all the time is simply not smart.

  11. Basketball is among the most used activities on the planet and one of the very most generally viewed. It's a group game that requires two clubs of five effective participants each attempting to rating items against each other by organizing a baseball by way of a 300cm (10 foot) large ring (the ‘basket') below organized rules.
