"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." - Pablo Picasso

As you know, I am in Toronto for a short break before I have to start work in June.  Anytime I come home, my sisters and I (as well as our friends) try to find something new to do.  This time, we ended up going to this great little place on Queen Street called Paintlounge.  It is a cozy little art studio and cafe that my sister, Vanessa, ran across.  Paintlounge offers workshops for all skill levels, but we decided to go in for a freestyle session.  We each received our own little canvas and had access to a number of acrylic paints and supplies, to help us get our inner Picasso on!

Free styling can definitely be a little bit intimidating, but they also have little booklets available with several photos for inspiration. Once we got started, I think we all kind of found our groove and it was a lot of fun.  There was one couple in the studio painting before we arrived and they were very friendly.  They guy actually offered to take a polaroid of the four of us painting (see below).

Finally we were able to complete our mini masterpieces and I think they turned out quite well for our first times.  I would definitely be interested in going back to this place.

P.S. I received the last of my final grades today and I actually managed to pull off a decent grade in Con Law.  I was really scared for that class and had no clue as to how my grade would turn out.  In the end, I completed my first year of law school with all A's and B's.  Straight A's would have been nice, but still, I am proud of myself.  I'm so happy to be done with 1L year and I cannot wait to see what 2L has in store for me!

  1. Congrats on your good grades!

The paintings came out amazing considering it was your first time! This is definitely something that has been on my bucketlist but I haven't found anyone willing to go with me. Looks like it'll just be me. LOL!

    1. Thank you! And I'm sure that going on your own will still be enjoyable. My friends were making fun of me the entire time because I was so focused on my painting that I wasn't even speaking to them lol I was in the zone .. so you don't need people!

      Thanks for the comment :)

  6. Paintlounge sounds like such a fun place! And all of your paintings turned out beautifully - I haven't painted for years and I doubt I'd end up with anything very nice on my first go around ;)
