Music ... Thursdays ?

I love Spotify. I think it's a great way to discover new music and I truly appreciate all of their playlists.  I'm probably late with a lot of my music finds (law school can do that to you,) but I thought I would share one particular song that I'm really feeling at the moment.  It's Ariana Grande- One Last Time. I don't even know why but this song really resonates with me. Even though she gets a lot of hate, Ariana has an incredible voice and that is not up for debate. Further, I feel a lot of people can relate to some of the lyrics ... 

"I don't deserve it; I know I don't deserve it. But stay with me a minute ... I swear I'll make it worth it. Can't you forgive me, at least just temporarily? I know that this is my fault. I should have been more careful."

I apologize for the poor quality.  I didn't exactly plan on doing an outfit post that night so I really only took Instagram appropriate selfies lol.  But then I thought after the fact, why not share a "going out" post with you guys.  That could be fun, right?  So here it is.  This past weekend, I took a break from working on my article for my law school journal and went out with some friends.  It was a really fun and much needed break from legal research!  My favorite part of this outfit is the skirt.  I don't really shop at LF often but anytime I've gone in there I've found something that I love!  Like, remember the time I found this sweater there?  So yea, if ever you're in LA, I would recommend checking that store out. As a matter of fact, I need to go back!

Get It Right? Get It Tight?

Summer bodies are built in the winter; at least that's what someone told me. So I've been working pretty hard lately to build my dream summer body. Now, I'm not going to advocate being envious of someone else's body. We should all be happy with what we have and appreciate the way that God made us. However, I do think that if you want to tone up or shape your body, it's okay to draw inspiration from someone else. I follow a couple of fitness personalities on Instagram but my favorite person to follow is KatyaEliseHenry. I will post a few of her photos below. I think she has a great body (big butt and toned stomach). I like to follow her page because she's also about 5'2 and 108 lbs which is really similar to my natural build. I think it's important to be realistic about your fitness goals and so if you are going to use someone else as your daily inspiration, they should probably have a body type similar to yours anyway. To achieve my goals I've mostly been doing a variety of glute exercises (lunges, squats, donkey kicks, pelvic thrusts) and some ab workouts (planking, crunches etc.)
Following my workout I try to incorporate some protein into my diet because it helps to build lean muscle mass and it also helps you heal faster so that you can get back in that weight room ASAP! Obviously you can find protein in a variety of different forms and I basically choose my protein based on the time of day and how busy I am. If I work out in the evening after class then I will usually have dinner after that which will contain a lot of protein. Steak and eggs is a really good source of protein and so that's a popular choice for me. But obviously I can't have that all the time, so I try to switch it up and think of alternatives. When I work out in the morning before class, I generally don't have time to sit down and have a real meal so I'll opt for a protein shake instead. I may share some of my favorite recipes for shakes in a later post. For now, just know that I'm using the Vanilla Whey Protein from Body Fortress. I like the taste but this is the first protein supplement that I've tried so I'm not married to it. I'm looking to try out some different brands when I'm done with this one. Let me know if you have any suggestions!
Anyway, this is Katya Elise aka. my new fitness inspiration. Y'all pray for me. It's gonna be a long road to get to where she is but I'm working on it. Anyway like I said, let me know if you have any fitness suggestions for me. I'm open to anything really: protein supplements, cool workouts, meal ideas, drinks for during workouts? I don't know. Home Barista: DIY Caramel Lattes

I decided sometime last year that my Starbucks addiction was getting expensive and out of hand. Well, it wasn't an addiction per se but I did drink it every day. To be honest I don't particularly care for the taste of Starbucks's coffee anymore so I needed an alternative. I bought my own espresso machine and decided to start making my own lattes and iced coffees at home. I realize that this may seem like a lot to some people but I knew that I could do it because I was a barista during college anyway. I know how to make my own drinks exactly the way that I like them and I figured I would share how I do some of my favorite drinks with you guys!

Yes, I know. Every Canadian girl loves her Aritzia scarves. Well actually, every Canadian girl just loves Aritzia. I am not the exception. Although a little pricier than many other scarves out there, Aritzia scarves just do something for me. They are so pretty and the easiest way to make yourself appear put together with very little effort. My sister actually bought me a (different) scarf from there a while ago (as she owns several herself) and so my obsession began. When I saw this one online I had to get it. It's a really neutral gray so it's easy to pair with different outfits. Also, it's a blanket scarf which makes it very versatile. Literally sometimes when I'm in class and the A/C is cranked up way higher than it needs to be I convert my scarf back to its blanket state... sooo cozy!
